Trademarks
General Information
- Classification - 10th edition — Single class filing. class 33 and alcoholic goods in class 32 cannot be registered
- Search - Possible for word and device marks
- Examination - Formality, substantive and relative grounds
- Opposition period - 3 months from publication date
- Extension of time - Not possible for filing oppositions, counter oppositions, and responding to office actions
- Term of protection - 7 years from filing date and renewable for periods of 14 years each
- Use - Mark vulnerable to cancellation by any interested parties if there is no effective use of the mark for a period of 5 years preceding date of filing for cancellation

Assignment

- Power of Attorney, in the new name and/or address, duly legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
- Certificate of Change of Name and/or Address duly legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
Patents
General Information
- Search - Not available.
- Examination - Formality and patentability.
- Publication - Patents are published in the IP Bulletin issued by the Patent Office after grant.
- Opposition period - 60 days from grant and publication.
- Annuities - Paid annually on the anniversary of the filing date and payable before the expiration of the 4th, 8th, and 12th years, as from filing date. A grace period of 3 months for late payment of annuities is allowed with an extra charge.
- Term of protection - 16 years from filing date.
- Exploitation - Not Mandatory.

- Certificate of Incorporation or Extract of commercial Register, duly legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
- Copy of the home Patent letter/certificate.
- 3 copies of the specifications in English with Arabic translation.
- 3 sets of formal drawings.

- Power of Attorney legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
Assignment
- Deed of Assignment signed by both Assignor and Assignee, duly legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
- Power of Attorney legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.

- Copy of the License Agreement.
Industrial designs
General Information
- Term of protection - 5 years from filing date
- Examination - Formality only
- Application with multiple figures - Unacceptable
- Opposition period - 60 days from publication date
- Renewal - Allowed for two consecutive terms of 5 years each

- Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
- Extract from Commercial Register or Articles of Incorporation, if the applicant is a corporate body, also legalized by the Palestinian Consulate. (Separate document for each territory)
- Three representations of the design. (Separate prints for each territory).
- Representations of each different side of the design, if the design is three dimensional.
- Brief description of the design.
Renewal
- A Power of Attorney legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
Assignment
- Deed of Assignment signed by both Assignor and Assignee, duly legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
- Power of Attorney legalized by the Palestinian Consulate.
